Tesoros features hand-hammered copper tables crafted in the town of Santa Clara del Cobre, in Southern Mexico. Tesoros carries works with simple timeless designs of a functional nature, crafted to the level of fine art. The pieces begin with recycled copper sheets, which are heated in a bellows-blown wood fire, then beaten into form. This heat and hammer sequence is repeated, first with large hammers, then progressively finer hammers until the desired level is attained. This traditional process also creates the unique coloring of each piece. Tesoros carries a wide assortment of bases - some crafted from hand-forged wrought iron, and others of beautiful woods. Whether it be a spectacular dining table or a simple side table, every one is truly a work of art.

These amazing tables, lamps, and accents are the work of S.P. Madan, an artist in the New Mexico area who crafts these truly unique pieces for Tesoros. Mr. Madan moved from New Delhi to New York in 1982, where his background in Fine Art slowly fused with graphic design. In 1988 he left New York on what he calls "a worldwind tour of soul searching," armed with a sketchbook and some watercolors. In 1991, S.P. began developing his very unique organic pieces... inspired by this journey. He enjoys working with metal, because it can be bent and twisted to create very fluid functional designs that are light and lyrical. Every piece he creates is truly unique.

Each piece of glass in Mr. Madan¹s tables is individually formed in a kiln at his New Mexico studio. Small pieces of window glass are stacked together in a reservoir and melted down to form the desired size and thickness. When gazing at the surface one can see where small pieces of glass have fused together. Inside the glass are air bubbles which create magical reflections when hit by sunlight. Each piece is truly flowing and organic.

Every element of his design ­from the reeds, to the glass, to the paper ­ echoes our relationship to nature.

Tesoros carries a full line of high-quality upholstered furniture. Available in a huge array of special order fabrics and frames to suit any style, the only thing that surpasses the beauty of these pieces is their comfort and quality. These premier pieces are a wonderful addition to virtually any room in your home, and are built to last.

  • Frames are constructed of selected hardwoods milled and processed to remove defects. All joints are double doweled and each corner reinforced with corner blocks, hand- fastened and glued into each frame.

  • Legs are engineered into the frame for strength.

  • Pre-engineered springs of heavy-gauge, high-carbon steel are hand fastened to each frame and locked together, creating a uniform seating system.

  • Springs are covered with a tough polypropylene sheeting with foam and polyester batting applied for added comfort.

  • Backs are filled with special Dacron polyester fibers that are engineered to conform to the user and give support and comfort.  “Channeling” in each back prevents settling of fibers.

  • All cushions have high resiliency foam cores wrapped with layers of Dacron polyester fiber.  Specially contoured edges give the cushions a high crowned look that provides comfort and guarantees long-term style retention.

Tesoros carries some truly beautiful wood tables, armoires, and chairs. Many of our pieces are crafted from reclaimed wood…whether it be mesquite, alder, rosewood, or many other varieties. The wood often comes from old haciendas around Mexico …from old doors and various arquitectural elements.
